Leigh Shortlisted for Chesterfield Apprentice of the Year

Leigh Shortlisted for Chesterfield Apprentice of the Year

Hot on the heels of being named the Apprentice of the Year at the AMRC Apprentice Awards, our very own Leigh has been shortlisted for the Chesterfield Apprentice of the Year award at the North Midlands & South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards 2017.

Leigh started working at Foxwood Diesel after completing her GCSEs and, since then, she has been making a great impact on the company. She works as an apprentice Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Builder at our Whittington-based workshop in Chesterfield. At the recent AMRC Apprentice Awards, Leigh was crowned the First Year Apprentice of the Year and went onto win the accolade of overall Apprentice of the Year, so she is hoping to take home the trophy and complete the hat-trick.

The awards will take place on Tuesday 16 May at the Showroom Workstation, Sheffield, where the winners will be announced by the host, Frances Bishop, finalist in The Apprentice series 2016.

Discussing being shortlisted, Leigh said: “It feels wonderful to be recognised, once again, for the hard work I put in at Foxwood Diesel. Since starting at the company, I have tried to learn from my peers and make positive changes within the business, so it is very rewarding to receive recognition for that.”

Ken Worsdale, Managing Director at Foxwood Diesel said: “Leigh has made some really positive changes at Foxwood, so it’s great to see her hard work recognised outside of the workshop once again. She is dedicated to the company, and we can’t wait to see her develop further in the future.”

“The judges will be looking for an apprentice that has achieved outstanding things and added to the company, and we are definitely confident that Leigh has done that here at Foxwood Diesel.”
